Modern Fables

The robot and the alien

One day a robot was walking on the road when he saw an alien in problem. His spaceship was broken.

The robot was very intelligent and helped the alien to fix the spaceship.

The alien could come back to his planet. Years later the alien came back to Earth.

Now the robot was is problem. His family didn’t want him anymore because he was old.

The alien invited the robot to his planet.

The robot accepted and they went to the planet.

‘If you help people you will make friends.’

Martín and the dogs

Long time ago two dogs were living in the streets. These dogs were starving. One day Martín, a boy, found these dogs and took them to his house. This house was small  and humble.

At dinner Martin shared the scarce food. Martin said: ‘Love breaks barriers.’

The new technology

Once upon a time there were two cell-phones. One day the old cell-phone was walking in the street and the new cell-phone began mocking at him. “You don’t have a camera,” said the new cell-phone.                                                                                               

Just then a wind blew and threw the two cell-phones.                                                           

The new cell-phone was broken but the old one wasn’t. Then the old cell-phone said, “The newest isn’t always the best”

Students from 9th went on re-writing Aesops' fables. This was their last task before beginning to write their own ones!

Long time ago, while the hares were hopping by the road, a troop of horses came by. The hares got scared and jumped off the road and near a lake. A group of frogs saw the hares, the frogs got scared and jumped into the water. The hares saw the frogs."Things are not so bad" said the hares, "There is always someone worse off than yourself".

One day a group of hares were hopping by the road, when they saw a troop of horses come by.
The hares got scared and jumped off the road and near a lake.
A group of frogs saw the hares and got scared and jumped into the water.
When the hares saw the frogs they said: "Things aren't so bad".

Moral: There is always someone worse off than yourself.

Who was Aesop? A biography

His name was Aesop. He was Greek. He was born in 620 B.C. and died in 560 B.C. He was a writer of fables and a slave. He was interested in fables and education. He wrote many fables. Many cities dispute him: Thrace, Phrygia, Egypt, Ethiopia, Samos, Athens, Sardis and Amorium.

Aesop's fable adapted!

Here are some adaptations we did in class of the fable "The two Crabs." You can choose your favourite by participating on the poll on the sidebar.

GROUP 1

The Mother Crab and the Son Crab

One fine day a mother crab and her son were in the beach. The mother saw the child walking sideways.
She said "Don't walk sideways."
"Why you don't set the example first?" said he, "Example is the best precept."

Mother Crab and Son Crab

One fine day a mother crab and her son were in the beach. The son crab walked sideways and his mother told him “Don`t walk sideways.”
Her son said “Set the examples first.”
The mother stayed silent.

GROUP 3

One fine day, a mother crab and her son were on the beach.
The mother looked at her son and said “Dear son, don’t walk sideways, it’s not good for you.” The son thought for a minute and said “But walking sideways is natural in crabs. And I think you should set the example first.”
The mother crab learnt from her son and now she knows: “Example is the best precept”.
